With the books that we create as the foundation, our supplementary lessons focus on the following goals:
To develop cognitive skills and social-emotional competencies
Support literacy through real-world experiences by using reading and writing to make text-to-self connections to better understand the topic and how it relates to their lives.
Generate questions about a specific concept to demonstrate thinking processes. Teaching methods include shared reading, technology integration, language, problem-solving, social and emotional skills, and independent writing.
Foundational Skills
To help students develop and sustain foundational language skills such as listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking through vocabulary and comprehension.
Social-Emotional Development
To help students develop a sense of self by understanding feelings, thoughts, likes and dislikes, relationships, and responsibilities. Students will learn about: perseverance, courage, trust, responsibility, commitment, and hard work, among many more values.
